Origin:
Like the rest of Team Bullet Train (and the Autobots in general), Rapid Run is an electromechanical entity hailing from Cybertron, a transforming robot sent to earth to protect it from evil. He may also be from another time period, making him doubly out of place here.
Powers:
Cybertronian Physique: Rapid Run is a robotic entity of Cybertronian origin. As such, this jive-talking Autobot has, by his very nature, the use of a large variety of abilities that reflect this. His very body gives Rapid Run these super-human powers:
* Body Armor (s): made (or formed) from primarily metallic materials, Rapid Run is considerably durable. His sturdy, inorganic composition affords Rapid Run intensity 8 (+2) protection from attack, enough to make him highly resistant to conventional human assault.
* Growth (a): Cybertronians come in all manner of sizes, few of which align with the human norm. Rapid Run, for instance, nominally stands at twenty-four feet tall in his humanoid mode, which grants him this power at intensity 6 as a general matter of course.
As such, this wise-cracker possesses a +6 size factor. This grants him a +6 bonus to the damage he inflicts on normal sized foes, while theirs suffers a -6 against him. Conversely, he suffers a -6 penalty to strike standard sized enemies in the first place, while they gain a +6 to hit him.
* Microscopic + Telescopic Vision (w): all Transformers can alter their visual sensitivity where distance is concerned. Functioning at intensity 2, these powers let Rapid Run see objects up to a mile distant with ease, and allow him to read items on microfiche.
* Radio Transceiver (i): as are most Transformers, Rapid Run is equipped with an audio / video transmission system. This communications rig allows him instant contact with any other Cybertronian within a wide radius of his person, having intensity 7 range (100 miles).
* Resistance / Invulnerability to Disease and Poison (s): as an inorganic life form, Rapid Run possesses complete immunity to poisons and organic diseases. He also possesses intensity 30 (+7) resistance to more chemically creative forms of disease.
Corporeal Gestalt (a): a tight-knit group, Team Bullet Train has the power to combine their very bodies into a singular fighting form, the fleet-footed Rail Racer! Rapid Run possesses this power at intensity 16, and serves as the lower torso and back of Rail Racer.
Grenade Launchers (i): these hip-mounted weapons allow Rapid Run to fire twin grenades at an opponent. These concussion grenades inflict intensity 8 physical damage in tandem (-2 individually), but their primary effect is to provide cover in the form of a large smokescreen.
Headlights (i): to better emulate a bullet train (and since they come in handy in the dark), Rapid Run is equipped with a set of convenient headlights. These twin lamps can generate intensity 8 illumination, making railing at night no problem.
Shape Change (a): Rapid Run has the power to transform into a Rail Star 700 bullet train engine. He can do this at will, though the transformation requires a verbal trigger ('Rapid Run, Transform!'). Rapid Run's engine form moves at intensity 6 speed.
Sonic Projector (i): mounted in his nose cone (and usable in either mode), this weapon can be wielded to startling effect by Rapid Run. The energy it emits inflicts intensity 8 concussive (physical) damage, allowing it to sometimes render unshielded foes senseless with but one hit.
Hindrances / Augmentations:
(none)
Equipment:
Seven Shield (i): a part of his frame in his train engine mode, this device is quite handy. Offensively, it can fire a 'compression injector', an attack which inflicts intensity 8 force damage - but this attack can only be used once per aura duration.
On top of this, the shield (of m.s. 20), can generate a force field as well. This barrier can protect Rapid Run and anyone within near missile distance with intensity 12 (+3) ability. This powerful protection adds to his usual body armor considerably, making him nigh-invulnerable!
Skills:
Boxing (s): in addition to his artillery skills, Rapid Run is a competent hand-to-hand fighter - which he sometimes enjoys a bit too much. At any rate, he can divide his pre-card play action score between two unarmed melee strikes, the last of which occurs as a contingent action.
Marksman (a): highly skilled in his personal weaponry, Rapid Run has a distinct advantage when using his built-in grenade launchers. When wielding them, or any other line-of-sight weaponry, Rapid Run may do so at one difficulty level lower than is usually required.
Martial Arts (a): supplementing his boxing talent, this skill demonstrates Rapid Run's martial prowess. It allows him to reduce the difficulty of actions intended to strike in melee, dodge incoming attacks and catch thrown weapons by one difficulty level.
Shields (s): this skill allows Rapid Run to utilize his Seven Shield (or any other defensive implement) in either an offensive or defensive fashion. Additionally, if he can deflect an attack aimed at him, he just might bounce it back at its source (an superhuman difficulty Agility action).
Contacts:
As a member of Team Bullet Train, Rapid Run can naturally rely upon his fellows for help if necessary - these guys are almost always working together to begin with. Of course, as an Autobot, Rapid Run can also call that large group of heroic robots reliable contacts as well.
Calling:
Soldier: Rapid Run is a professional. Sure, he may be a suave, glib-talking Autobot, but he's good at what he does - and he knows it. Almost overconfident, he'll nonetheless do what Railspike - or Optimus Prime - tells him, and go about following his orders in a timely manner.
Likeness:
In his vehicular mode, Rapid Run appears to be a gray Rail Star 700 bullet train engine, one with black and gold trim in places. In his humanoid configuration, Rapid Run appears to be a tall robot built from spare, gray and black bullet train parts.
Personality:
Rapid Run is the brawler of Team Bullet Train. He's always quick to start - and finish - a fight, and is rather confident in his power. Furthermore, he seems to have absorbed a large portion of earth slang and culture, for he tends to be a glib, almost jive-talking robot at times.

Story:
Rapid Run's history is fraught with mystery. As a member of Team Bullet Train however, he is one of three Autobots who have grown particularly close to humankind, since he has served as the engine of a commuter train for them for quite some time.
He did this, as did his fellows, while the Autobots awaited the eventual arrival of Megatron and his flunkies. Though they did not exactly know why Megatron was coming here, the Autobots did indeed know of his destination, and were thus able to prepare for his arrival well in advance.
The Autobots worked well with humans, helping them out in secrecy whether a disaster struck or simply in matters of convenience, until Megatron finally showed his hand. Shortly after he abducted earth's greatest energy expert, Dr. Onishi, Megatron went after various energy sources.
One such source was within a powerful new bullet train developed by various human industries.
When Megatron sent his Predacon goons after the train, Team Bullet Train was drawn from its role as mundane, conventional commuter trains directly into battle, at which point Rapid Run and the others became more active in the fight against evil.
They appeared several times in the Autobots' battle against the Predacons, both before and after those villains' ranks were bolstered by a large contingent of Decepticons. Either by himself or with his fellow members of Team Bullet Train, Rapid Run has helped in the fight considerably.
Of course, now that Megatron (nee Galvatron) and all his earth-bound goons have been defeated, Rapid Run's ultimate fate is in question. He is presumably returning to Cybertron with the other Autobots, but should any Predacons or Decepticons return, he'll be sure to follow!
