Technoholic Formula Changes - Year 9!
April 8th, 2007: blah. As you can see, I sort of burned out for a bit again, and didn't manage to finish up all that Streamlining by the end of the Technohol-year like I'd planned - much less that last bit of Smoothing. But fear not, true believer, I'm slowly overcoming all the medical bits that have grounded me, in addition to my own business, so I should be on track again soon!
March 7th, 2007: well, newuniversal #4 came out today, so I had to warm up the scanner and import an image of the cover for that thing, and then write a New Universe News blurb about it. Not that it was like twisting my arm or anything of course, but hey, I'm trying to keep current on that there news deal - 'specially since that particular page gets a lot of visits...
March 5th, 2007: Streamlining! While I didn't manage any proper updates to the 1983 Joes, I did start out by Streamlining up the entry I made for the Doc way back in the day. It didn't take much of course, what with him just having the one action figure and no additional history to record, but that leaves me with just sevel '83 Joes to go. Tomorrow I aim for Ace and Wild Bill!
March 3rd, 2007: more Real Life aside, I managed to resume... the Streamlining! I have Streamlined Deep Six's entry, thus completing my 1984 GI Joe roster. That leaves me like 19 folks altogether in the Joe side of the Handbook to Streamline up before that work's all done. At least, of course, until I get going on all the Gi Gear. That'll be fun, or something. Heh...
March 1st, 2007: I resumed the Streamlining today, and completed Rip Cord for your general gaming amusement. That was just a little bit of work to be honest, and I hope to resume 'hard core' effort once I shake my ugly headaches I've been having of late. That just leaves Deep Six though, and the 1984 guys will be all done. Then, I pick up what's left of the 1983 folks - is getting there!
February 28th, 2007: updated the New Universe News section, as I was literally blindsided by the arrival of a reprint of newuniversal #2 - I don't recall that ever being listed anywhere... but then I'm not as up on 'things' as I would like to be... heh. Regardless, I added a news blurb for it as well as a scan so you can ogle at the spiffy painted cover of Nightmask. Am I not awesome?
February 26th, 2007: need I say... Streamlining? Took me a lot longer than expected, but I have now Streamlined and updated the incredibly capable Roadblock, in the 1984 GI Joe roster, adding a figure from 2004 and from 2005 to the mix. With him done, all the actual updating for 1984 seems finished, and I need only 'just' Streamline Ripcord and Deep Six to call this year done!
February 25th, 2007: at the risk of sounding like a broken record here... Streamlining! I have Streamlined and updated my entry for Recondo, adding the details of his 2004 and 2005 action figures; I seem to be filling up that 2005 Joe roster by attrition... heh. That just leaves three of the 1984 Joes to cover - and only one of THOSE needs actual updating. Should be in '83 very soon...
February 24th, 2007: mo' Streamlining! I Streamlined and updated Blowtorch, adding his 2003 figure, Spirit, adding his 2005 and 2006 figures, and Duke, adding four 2004 and four 2005 figures. That's right, Duke, one of the three GI Joe figures with over 20 figures is now done - and it took me HOURS to Streamline that guy. But hey, he's now current and slick...
February 23rd, 2007: Streamlining! I Streamlined and updated my description of the one and only Shipwreck, splitting his one entry into seven (adding his most recent, 2005 figure to the mix in this outing). This completes my upgrades of the 1985 Joes that I've hit so far, and now I reach further into the past! This work began when I Streamlined Thunder in the 1984 Joe roster. Woo!
February 22nd, 2007: I Streamlined Sgt. Slaughter, and then Streamlined and updated my entry for Lady Jaye, adding details on her 2003 figure (and demise in the GI Joe comic), as well as Flint, adding two figures to his description, along with a revised background and an item for the Flint Imagery - a scan of him in his first uniform from the old Order of Battle limited series.
February 21st, 2007: continuing on with the 1985 Joes, I have Streamlined and updated Dusty, adding details on his two 2004 action figures, and Frostbite, adding details on his two 2003, his 2004, his two 2005, and his 2006 action figures - that's a lot of action figures! I also added a 'Frostbite' picture to the Imagery, from my scan of the old Order of Battle thing. Ha cha cha.
February 20th, 2007: woo, 'real life' again, apologies. However, I return with not one, but two updates! I have Streamlined both Tripwire (1983 Joes) and Cutter (1984) Joes. Why the diversion from the Plan, you ask? Well, a) to shake things up a tad, and b) because I grow very, very close to completing the 2001 roster in a Streamlined fashion, so I was hoping to mop that up soon-ish!
February 17th, 2007: had to take a few days off to catch up on some 'real life' business, but I return to the Streamlining! Picking up the 1985 Joes, I began by Streamlining and updating Alpine, covering his second and third 2004 figures (I'd already hit his first from that year way back in the day). Plan on hitting a few more fun folk tomorrow, and possibly Tripwire for various reasons.
Feburary 12th, 2007: hey, Streamlining! I have Streamlined Lift-Ticket, and then Streamlined and updated Beach-Head, adding his third 2004 and his sole 2005 action figure, Low-Light, adding his more recent, 2006 incarnation, and added Slipstream's 2003 and 2004 action figures. With those four folks done, that finished my existing work on the 1986 Joes - and I press further back...
February 11th, 2007: more of the same, I guess. I have Streamlined Iceberg, and also Streamlined and updated Leatherneck, adding details on the latter's two newest figures (one of which was I guess literally identical to an older one), and corrected details on his 1993 figure that I apparently had off by far. All done for the night - no newly invented words this time, sorry.
February 10th, 2007: you'd think I was possessed of a one track mind, what with all the Streamlining! I Streamlined Lifeline 1, and then Streamlined and updated Wet-Suit, having bifurcated his lone entry into seven, to cover every year he had a GI Joe figure. Of course, since he's gone from one to seven, would that be septafurcated? I'm not sure if that really was a word - but hey.
February 9th, 2007: so yeah, Streamlining again. I have completely Streamlined Law & Order, and Streamlined and updated Tunnel Rat. The latter took quite a bit, 'cause I was apparently three whole figures behind on him... woo. But having done these two fellows, the Streamlining has indeed covered everything from 1987 on, and now I can set my sights on the 1986 Joes... mmm progress.
February 8th, 2007: updated the New Universe News section, with not one, not two, but three bits of interest. The latter two, notice of Mark Hazzard in the 2007 Handbook update and the newuniversal #1 reprint should've been up sooner, but didn't have the scanner uncovered yet. Since newuniversal #3 came out yesterday I had no choice, however, so I added all three bits in one lump sum.
But wait, that's not all! I've also Streamlined Big Ben, Blizzard and Nunchuk, and Streamlined and updated Heavy Duty and Mirage, bringing my slate of progress on the Joes equal to having every new Joe member from 1988 on that I've covered up to date. Hope to get Law and Tunnel Rat done tomorrow (or soon at least), to extend my reach back to the long lost era of 1987...
February 7th, 2007: once again: Streamlining! I have Streamlined entries for Agent Faces, Sideswipe, Sidetrack 2, and Thunderwing. Also, I Streamlined and updated Dart, Hi-Tech, Lifeline 2, and Switch Gears, adding details on the 2004 action figures for each. This completely updates all the new Joes I have covered that were released since 1998 - woo! Now for a few devices...!
February 6th, 2007: so yeah, Streamlining! I have Streamlined entries for Crossfire, Double Blast, Sure Fire, and Wet Down, completing this process for the 2001 Joes that were new then. This also involved 'fixing' a bizarrely broken Double Blast entry - don't know what I was thinking when I broke that thing. Also, I updated Pathfinder to add his 2004 figure - keen, yes?
February 5th, 2007: so I continued with the Streamlining (since I can't seem to make myself finish the Smoothing) and have seriously upgraded the 'Big Brawler' entry. I added his 2003 and 2004 figures, as well as the 'joe com' thing all the 2001+ folk are supposed to have. I hope to get more Streamlining done today but I have a 'hot date' and perhaps some Heroing to do later.
February 4th, 2007: sorry for the temporary 'outage' of updates; had been preoccupied with a bunch of 'real life' stuff. Working to get back into the swing of things again, and started by Streamlining Chameleon, Sidetrack 1 and Whiteout in the 2000 GI Joe roster; this was to finish all my 'original' entries for that year - and I s'pose they didn't require all that much work to finish.
January 21st, 2007: I have Smoothed out the remaining Cobra rosters, them being four gear listings, for what, '83, '85, '89, and '00? That clears out all of them, and thus Smoothes out the entire GI Joe Handbook. The only Smoothing that remains on all the 13 now is in the Golden Age Handbook - and I'll be done with that on the whole 13 as well. Ah, the 13 Labors are almost complete!
January 18th, 2007: finished cleaning up the '85 GI Joe and Cobra .html, and thus the entire 13's .html as a result. Also, I Streamlined the V.A.M.P. in the '82 Joe gear - all five five versions of the thing. Finally, I've Smoothed out all of the GI Joe rosters (personnel and equipment), and just have to do four Cobra gear rosters before that's all done, too. Hot, yes?
January 17th, 2007: made up for yesterday - and how! I've streamlined all the '82 Joe gear that needs it save for the V.A.M.P. - and that's in process. Also, I've Smoothed the rosters for the '86 Joes, and cleaned up the .html on the '84 and '86 listings for the Joes and Cobra - leaving only the '85 stuff to go in that regard before all the .html upgrading is complete at long last!
January 16th 2007: so I got about half of what I wanted to get done worked on today (if not yesterday as originally intended; whoops). I have Smoothed out the '82 Joe gear roster, and will work on Streamlining all that gear next - the goal is to get the small amount of equipment I've covered to date up to spec, before I start working on the Joes in a more... focused manner. Unless I get side tracked again.
January 14th, 2007: only got a little bit done today, but hey. Completed the Smoothing on the Medusa Web roster, and as a result the New Universe section in its entirely. That leaves just the GI Joe and Vintage Age portions of the 13 to be Smoothed up. Slowly, yet surely, the 13 is getting modernized. Will likely start Smoothing in the Joe section tomorrow, and Streamline some gear there, too.
Jaunary 12th, 2007: upgraded my description of the Mark 1 Spitfire armor, adding those two new abilities that I recall from its recent appearance in an Untold Tale of the New Universe. Also, my list of Things To Do for the 13 is slowly dwindling, or I find as I check things off my master list. I've made good progress on the Technohol 13 Master Roster, too (check out the link to such on the 'main' page)!
January 11th, 2007: Smoothed out all the rosters on the v13 thinge. Also, I've added text files to everyone v13-wise that needed them, save for Silhouette and Reaper - both of whom need a bit of work yet. Also made a Saga conversion for the Psi-Fox; I was waiting on that for some bizarre reason, but I forgot what that was, so I finished him up. Also again, upgraded the New U's Mark 1 Spitfire armor.
January 10th, 2007: tangent! I have Smoothed out the roster in the MSH Infinity thing, as well as that in the v13 Idealists rosters. Furthermore, I added Saga versions of the 'stock' Frankologists and Machine Gun Buddhists (didn't know I hadn't), as well as text file archives of those - along with texts for Professor Frankowitz and Lisa Polanski. Hoping to finish cleaning the v13 stuff shortly.
January 9th, 2007: working on something else I discovered that I'd needed to update the entry I'd produced for Megabolt - that weird Vehicon guy that is a sort of giant walking spider head thing. I upgraded his story some, adding in details of his second, repaint toy, and fixed details on his Saga-specific 'titanic stature' unique power. Well, sorta unique; I had to fix it on Fortress Maximus too.
January 8th, 2007: sorta like yesterday, didn't manage a whole lot of goodness. I did hunker down and complete the 1983 stuff in the GI Joe Handbook, leaving me naught but three years to cover - 1984 through 1986. Also, I laid the ground work for another handy feature I'd been considering for a very long time - an alternate means of looking up folks I've covered. I'll share more on that later.
Januray 7th, 2007: didn't manage to get too much done today, but what I did get finished was another chunk of the final 'cleaning up' operation. The 1990 Joe stuff I'd built somewhat recently is all modernized, which didn't take too long on each since most of the work in that regard was already done, I s'pose. But the new, 'Streamlined' style those entries are in comprise a whole lot more individual files, so nyah.
January 6th, 2007: began my massive overhaul of Hawk for the GI Joe Handbook; figured if I wanted to start on the right foot with this thing's overhaul, I really should cover the leaders of both sides first. So I've totally overhauled Hawk's 'basic' entry (the '82 one). Though it took most of the day, I also covered all 9 of his additional action figures (including the 2004 one I hadn't yet covered). He is Streamlined!
January 5th, 2007: I didn't manage to get as much done today as I did yesterday, having 'only' cleaned up the '82 GI Joe and Cobra stuff I have on the 13. That stuff's all squeaky clean now, and I'll be working on more I think tomorrow (trying to shake this headache/migraine thing, so I'm minimizing computer time). Though I am cooking up something special as well, Joe-wise, so stay tuned...
January 4th, 2007: so I had to update the New Universe News section, since the year had rolled over to 2007, sort of archiving all the old 2006 stuff after a final update I'd made to it, and adding a section for the stuff that went on this month. That's all current again, with me covering the newest issue of newuniversal, which just came out today. Also added a scan of the Star Brand trade paperback.
Of course, that's not all. Despite this weird headache that's got me going in tunnel vision, I started work on the GI Joe Handbook's modernization, and have (I think) got everything in a state matching the rest of the 13, the massive overhaul that I've been throwing at the site as a whole. I've just got to do the bits for 82-86, and then 90 - and then that whole upgrade to my .html will be complete!
December 31st, 2006: squeaking it through in the veritable nick of time, I have completed the cleansing of the New Universe Handbook's rather large amount of .html. It's all spiffy and coherent now, and I've also cleaned up the issue guides pages throughout in anticipation of adding the Untold Tales summaries as I get to them things. Of course, I found some additional stuff while doing so.
For example, when cleansing the Medusa Web directory, I found I'd built text file downloadables of all them quasi-military paranormal folk, but for some reason I'd never got around to putting them things 'live', as it were. Not sure what happened there, but I've made those all available for your general gaming use at long last. Better (eight years) late than never, right? Right?!
December 30th, 2006: though it's taking me much, much longer than I anticipated, I've started the process of cleaning up the .html for the New Universe Handbook; have a few sections of that thing done, but a long way to go. Found a bunch of stuff that needed doing in addition to the stuff I was planning on, so that all took more time - but the Spitfire and Star Brand sections are now squeaky clean!
December 28th, 2006: it took considerable doing, both in research and writing, but I have upgraded the ancient entry I had on the 13 for the one and only Bucky. I had resisted for a time, since I wasn't sure of the full extent of his surprise ressurection, but some surprise e mails about a contributor to the 13 way back (from when I was allowing such) motivated me to get on it. So enjoy the all-new Bucky!
December 27th, 2006: continued on with the reformatting of the 13, and have now uploaded the new, improved workings of the Vintage Age Handbook for your viewing pleasure. Took a while but I have cleaned that thing all up and am calling it good - I have some character directories to fine tune yet (from the old old style) but I'll take care of that in due time. Hope those things are easier to read now...
December 25th, 2006: hey, it's a holiday or something. So I gift unto thee my own interpretation of Jhiaxus from the Transformers: Robots in Disguise toy line. He had no background or 'tech specs' available, so I hammered him together from bits and pieces culled from his source material (his original toy incarnation, Jet Storm), his Generation 2 comic presence, and made him a proper nemesis for Storm Jet!
December 24th, 2006: continued on with the cleaning up operation, though I'll likely stop shortly to get some actual writing in; don't want to bore folks to death, after all. I've completed the clean up of the MSH Infinity and TF-RID sections, and am choosing this as a convenient 'breaking point' for the time being. I hope to do some actual character work tomorrow for the 13, but it depends on how things go.
December 23rd, 2006: I continued the 'cleaning up' process I'm using to sweep up a lot of lingering garbage that's sitting around in the dark, musty corners of the 13, tweaking everything in the Miscellaneous Heroes section, as well as the Variant Earth 13 reference. Cleared out tons of old 'artifacts' in the latter that I thought I'd cleared a while ago, along with the more recent stuff that needed doing.
December 22nd, 2006: yay, it's my happy birthday or something. After getting all twitchy from fighting ridiculous traffic to run what would ordinarily be mundane errands, I've started working on the 13! Mmm soothing Technoholic goodness. I have cleaned up a bunch of the 'common' pages on the 13, and I also updated the entries I have for both Lifeguard and John Wraith (Misc. Characters).
December 21st, 2006: haven't done too much thus far today. I got 'Agility' covered in the Universal Heroes Core Rules, and a minor tid bit of New Universe News. Was looking to either write more or hit another Liberty Legionnaire before the day was up, but my friend Acers is making me go see a movie since tomorrow is my 'getting older' day. Lousy friends, being nice and doing stuff for you, go figure!
December 20th, 2006: don't worry, haven't run out of steam yet - just needed a day to percolate. I changed gears a bit and did some Streamlining in the GI Joe section (lest folks think I've halted the 'content' half of the 13 altogether). Wielding her 'origin' comic mightily, I have totally upgraded and streamlined the entry I made for Scarlett, making unique versions for every year she had an action figure.
December 18th, 2006: going over the Character Sheets portion of the Universal Heroes stuff, and made some additions. Put that stuff on its own page, and added the .psd 'source' images I used to make all those character sheets (the basic ones, not the applications you see below the sheets proper). Also found some old .pdfs and a bunch of samples of the .xls sheet I'd whipped up, so I added them as well.
That's not all, however. I actually started the writing on Version 4 proper! I've only got a bit done so far, having had to sort out how to set up 'border' colors for some tables dependent on the current site color, as well as the formatting on said tables, and the pages they'll lay on, but after that I started defining the ability scores for the Universal Heroes system. And so... it begins in earnest!
December 17th, 2006: well, I tried to clear my head some and have written a general introduction to the whole 'Univeral Heroes' thing, explaining my motivations for the whole project. I sort of ramble since it involves a lot of personal history, but it may shed some light on my manic urges. Or just confuse you. Either / Or. Also, I crafted a disclaimer to cover the whole work, since you simply have to these days.
December 16th, 2006: 'zomg' as they say. All done now. I completed the html-ing of the Book of Magic work I'd done thus far, and have also started (and finished) the Core Rules I'd had laying about. I even found some of the earlier versions of that thing I'd had laying around, and stuffed as much of that into the work as possible; it needs fine tuning either way (understatement of 2006) but it's all up there now. Woot!
Also, I've retired the old 'Universal Heroes' page and directory. I moved all that information and character sheets and stuff to the new area - when you click on that button you go there. Just figured I'd note that in the highly unlikely event that you'd bookmarked that page. It's in a redirect format right now, but I'll pull that down in a few months after I get Spidered. I'm all kinds of weird that way.
December 15th, 2006: so I updated the New Universe news a tad. After that, I virtually completed the html-i-zation of the Book of Magic - I think I just need to come up with the rolling tables, but since I haven't actually defined all the powers that may wait. I find myself thinking I should condense the spells as is some more, and then research some new ones; to make it theme-different from the psi thing.
December 14th, 2006: well, I started it yesterday, but I have since finished the PsCGI, or Psionic Character Generation Insert, from the Manual of the Psi. All those lists have now been converted into utilitarian tables. They're not pretty by any means, but they're available in html at long last. This means I got the whole Manual, a 60 or so page Word file, html'd up in just a few days. Hot, yes?
Also, since I'm all tweaked out on energy drinks and can't seem to stop even when my body is giving me alarming messages to the contrary, I went ahead and started on the Book of Magic's html-i-zation. It's not complete so it won't take as long, but the foundation is laid. Also, I made the formatting of the 13 a bit more accessible with blank 'alt' tags in the formatting images. Am I not lovely?
December 13th, 2006: completed the huge power roster page for the html-ized Manual of the Psi. I have now html'd the whole Manual save for the power list pages, which require a whole lot of tabling - I think. I just have to decide how I'm formatting that business. But I need a slight break whilst I do so. Going to Hero some, then get back on that. But the Manual text proper is now easy to get at!
December 12th, 2006: building the primary power roster page. Basically this is in actuality several different pages, broken down by each letter of the alphabet, one for each group of powers that starts with said letter. Of course... I will also make a COMPLETE roster as well, a massive document that you can browse until your eyes bleed - and may kill you if you're still on dial-up. Whee!
December 11th, 2006: continued the html-i-zation of the Manual of the Psi, making usable code of everything that wasn't powers in the rather large text - save for the litany of rolling tables. I resist that as I may combine / delete / add powers at a later date once I get the basic rules finished, but we shall see. I'll keep you posted as progress... er, progresses. I may not make sense yet but I'm working on that as well.
December 10th, 2006: so the massive html-i-zation of the various rules I've made available on the 13 thus far is in progress! I have broken down all 333 or so psi powers into html (lots of p tags), and made each an individual file. This so i can include them in any number of different lists and power rosters that I have in mind for the very near future. I never mentioned until today that this was going to happen, but hey. Surprise!
December 6th, 2006: As usual, I emerge from my crypt to update the New Universe News, but lack any serious substantial content at the moment. But it's a lot of news! I updated two things for November that I'd forgotten to, and the most important bit from December: the release of newuniversal #1 to comic book stores. It's out now! Go buy many copies - Firebomb has three, so follow his example already!
November 14th, 2006: I'd meant to update entries for Breaker or Red Raven, but I wound up doing some critical maintenance on my New Universe news. Finally got the driver for my scanner installed, so I caught up on scans for various products that I'd been lacking of late, and updated it with some new stories and information that had come up recently. The thing should be totally current/spiffy now!
October 23rd, 2006: updated the New Universe News again, since stuff is coming out fast and loose in regards to the New there. Covered the January solicitations for newuniversal #2 and the Jaunary Offical Handbook deal that seems to feature none other than Mark Hazzard: Merc! I get the feeling I may be having to slightly revise my entry for that fellow soon. Robble Robble... Someday it'll be done.
Oh, and in case anyone was wondeirng, I'd been using a new format for the 13 for a while but I reverted back to the old one after it turned out I was getting random table issues with Style 2. It seemed the tables wouldn't 'stretch' at random, despite being specifically told to do so. Maybe just a Firefox thing, but I doubt that really, so I went back to the Old Way until I come up with a Style 3. Been wanting one, but you know.
October 12th, 2006: resumed the working on the New Universe deal a bit. I rendered the Mark Hazzard: Merc section complete (again), by adding the Untold Tales summary for Merc in. I also subsequently updated the Chronology page to reflect this story, as well as the individual chronology notes listed on the text files for Mark Hazzard, Treetop and Mal - so many little bits to remember.
August 11th, 2006: luckily this change didn't require as much reading as my last update, so I handily completed a complete overhaul of the Vintage Age Handbook's Patriot description, showing how he was before the end of World War II in one, and then detailing his years as Captain America himself in the update version. Feel free to check him out at your lesiure - the Liberty Legion is now halfway upgraded!
August 9th, 2006: having concluded a bunch of research (not JUST reading the Dead Girl graphic novel in the comic book store without buying), I have upgraded the Vintage Age Handbook's coverage of Miss America. I've completely overhauled her entry from top to bottom, and made one to cover her during the 'golden age' and one to detail her strange history since those 'better times' for your reading amusement.
August 8th, 2006: continued working on the overhaul of the Vintage Age Handbook, this time by rewiring the entry I'd made for Jack Frost oh, 9 years ago? I rebuilt him as I did the description for Blue Diamond, namely making a 'golden age' and 'modern age' entry for the man, which mostly differ on historical grounds, but there are some slight power tweaks as well. Feel free to check out the new Jack today!
August 5th, 2006: today I started work on something I sort of haphazardly began a very long time ago - namely, the overhauling of the Vintage Age Handbook! That's right, I have actually began working on making 'golden age' and 'modern' versions of the various write-ups I have made there, for convenience in running adventures in those eras versus the modern day, beginning with the one and only Blue Diamond!
August 3rd, 2006: great googly moogly, I updated the main page! Was looking for some other specific somethings to write today to get back in the groove a bit, as it were, but instead I found myself focusing on a lot of little things I noted just by poking around on the site. Many typos in my last few GI Joe write-ups, an old picture of me on the 'firebomb' page, etc... Hope to have more tomorrow.
July 7th, 2006: coming out of another of my 'dead to the world' phases, it seems, and trying to make up for that starting with a new Tale from Variant Earth 13. This one is the first of a four-issue series starring the Reincarnator, a seemingly normal guy who has been reincarnated over and over again since the dawn of human history - if not since before then - and is working to Save The World!
May 17th, 2006: gaah. I seem to have slipped there again, and didn't manage to get this out when I planned. However, the Retaliator is now available in the 1990 GI Joe equipment roster for your general gaming use. Now that his vehicle is described, Updraft is complete at last. I will endeavor to work up the Locust tomorow ('90 version, not the 2000-ish Dragonfly repaint), since it's so.. wee.
May 11th, 2006: I seem to be lagging behind on my massive push for Joe progress this week, and I do again apologize for that, but I've nonetheless added another new Joe to the 1990 roster. This is of course Updraft, the pilot of the team's high tech Retaliator combat helicopter. Of course I haven't hit his ride, so I plan to hit that one and the original Locust (a much more compact machine) tomorrow if possible.
May 8th, 2006: took another day longer than I thought, but I finally completed Drop Zone, yet another 1990 GI Joe, for your gaming pleasure. I find I may have to modify Rampart yet again, but I'll deal with that as I start to hammer out the details of my next '90 Joe, Updraft (and his ride, if i get the time). Forgot to give him one of them joe-com thingerbobs that all the comic volume 2 guys had. Eh.
May 5th, 2006: apologies for about a week's worth of nothing - I've been of the impression that someone ran me over in my sleep. Twice. But I got back onto the GI Joe stuff a bit. I started working on Drop Zone, but I found out that Rampart actually appeared in the Devil's Due Joe comics, so I had to update his entry some. Of course he got ganked in one of those 'shock killing' stories, so eh.
April 28th, 2006: sorry for that little detour yesterday; just had an itch to write so I had to scratch it. Heh. But I've resumed the '90s Gi Joes, having added Altitude to the roster there. Feel free to check him out at your lesiure; I'll be hitting another either tonight or tomorrow, depending on how things go - and of course depending on just how long my caffiene reserve holds out. I'm so tired for some reason.
April 27th, 2006: well, I didn't manage any GI Joe stuff tonight, but I did instead hunker down for some writing, and finished up part four of the Charlie Chicanery story for the Tales from Variant Earth 13 schtick. So that's a full limited series for three of the seven (duh) members of Seven. Three more to go and the actual 'team' book can begin proper. Though I have some other stuff in store before that too. Portents!
April 26th, 2006: before I passed out for the night, I went ahead and completed a description of the 1984 GI Joe S.H.A.R.C. I've since completed and proofread entries built for its variants, including the Night Shade ('88 Joe gear), the Sky S.H.A.R.C. ('90 Joe gear) and the Wave Crusher ('01 Cobra gear). I also Smoothed out the 1988 Joe equipment catalog, since I was there. Spiffy, eh?
April 25th, 2006: wow, that took longer than I thought. I decided to do the 'balanced' portion of my 1990 work and streamline the entry for Dial-Tone, but this one took me until 2:30 AM (my time) - gack. Of course there were two new figures for the guy to account for, and I completely rewrote his 'story' element from scratch, so that had a lot to do with it. You can view them now, starting with his first (1986) figure!
April 23rd, 2006: I completed the description for 1990 GI Joe guy Cold Front, the driver of their heavy duty cold weather tank-type vehicle, the Avalanche. And of course to be thorough, I went ahead and actually wrote that beast up as well, though finding blueprints for it was tricky... heh. Either way both of those are up in the '90 Joes rosters for your gaming fun (either in the personnel or equipment pages, depending).
April 22nd, 2006: sort of dragged my feet with this one (got sucked into some City of Villains action), and thus didn't finish Airborne 2 until a bit after midnight - my time at least. I also did a complete work-up of Airwave after I got home from work - and before I went to go run this new-fangled Planescape game I have been working on, so that's another two-Joes-for-the-price-of-one day. Am I not lovely?
April 20th, 2006: I actually had this fellow mostly done yesterday, but was interrupted and thus had to wait until the wee hours of the morning to finish him out. However, I've got 1990 Joe Topside all written up for your gaming pleasures. That covers all the 'basic' Joes from that time, leaving their stuff, the 3 driver guys, and the six man 'Sky Patrol' team - should start on those 'soon' I imagine.
April 19th, 2006: though it took me a bit longer than I planned, I did manage to complete my entry for Salvo early this morning - both his 1990 and 2005 versions. Furthermore, since this is my true 'day off', I took the time to work out a description for Sub-Zero also, posting his 1990 and 1993 versions in the Joe rosters as well. Two Joes for the price of one - you've simply got to love that!
April 18th, 2006: apologies for not getting this one done yesterday, but I was literally falling asleep at the keyboard as I was finishing up 1990 GI Joe Rapid-Fire here - but he's done. Not that there's anything particularly boring about him, per se, just that I was doing my update really really late. Whoops. One of the perils of working day hours I suppose. I hope to complete another Joe tonight - stay tuned!
April 16th, 2006: I corrected the description of the 2002 GI Joe Brawler to more correctly be the Brawler II - who knew there was a Brawler in 1991 also? Surely not I. I also did the Streamlining on the Sky Hawk the Sky H.A.V.O.C., separating the 1990 entries for such from the 1984 and 1986 descriptions. Finally, I engaged in some Smoothing of the vehicular rosters for 1984, 1986, and 1990. Mmm smooth.
April 15th, 2006: before I conked out I did my first vehicular streamlining operation, namely making distinct entries for the GI Joe Hammer (1990 gear) and the GI Joe Brawler (2002 gear). Of course, once I got home from work and after I got over the sloth induced by the global warming that they say isn't happening, I completed a description of Rampart, the 1990 GI Joe ADA missile specialist and gamer. Woot.
April 14th, 2006: didn't quite finish him by the end of the night Thursday, so my 'update of the day' was blown. Regardless, I got Captain Grid-Iron up for your reading amusement. Of course, I followed that up by getting Freefall taken care of on time, so it looks like you got two Joes for the price of one today. Oh noes! I'm thinking next on the plate is those three 1990 Joe vehicles. Streamlining!
April 12th, 2006: what's this? Still more new stuff? You betcha! Went ahead and continued on with my 1990 GI Joe work, and have rattled off an all new description, this time of the one and only Bullhorn! He wasn't in the comic book, and if he was in the cartoon I never saw it, but hey - he seemed like a pretty cool Joe once I started writing him out. Hope to get another one out by the end of the week, too.
April 11th, 2006: in what may at first look like a sudden, 90 degree turn, I went ahead and worked on some of the Variant Earth 13 stuff. Namely, I completed part 3 of the four part Charlie Chicanery portion of the Seven legacy. That's right, my first actual 'new' story for 2006, all wrapped up and available for your reading pleasure. If you're enjoying my writing at all go ahead and check that out - it's on!
April 10th, 2006: well it took me a few days, but I got started on more GI Joe entries. Of course, I didn't quite cover the Joe I expected to; in checking that everything was working ok, I've seen that I had a partially completed (well, skeletonized) entry for 1993 Joe Blast-Off, so I went ahead and fleshed that out a lot. I hope to finish a 2nd entry by the end of the day but we'll see how that goes.
April 9th, 2006: hey, eight full years have come and gone since I started posting my gobbledygook on this particular website (whether or not it's been at the same host). Where'd the time go? It's hard to think I was but 24 when I actually started working on this thing, way back in the day. Don't have all that much to say today, just had to note the start of my 9th Technoholic year for the sake of it. Woo!
