Origin:
Hounds were originally mere psychoplasmic creations of Daedalus Darquill, forged from the ostensible material at hand within his delusional mindscape. Later, they were actual humans Darquill affected by his immense psionic power, enhancing (or devolving) them into his Hounds.
Known Powers:
Natural Psionics (Metapsionic Powers):
Personal Weaponry (a): the Hounds all feature prominent claws and fangs, though they are rarely inclined to utilize either, generally relying upon brute force in a fight. They can activate these weapons at will to inflict Edged Attack damage in melee, however.
Resistance (s): though their specific appearance may vary, the Hounds all possess fur that covers their entire body. This anatomical feature provides them Good (10) resistance to cold-based assaults, though other attack forms generally affect them normally.
Natural Psionics (Superpsionic Powers):
Spectral Vampirism (a): by far their most dangerous attribute, the Hounds have the ability to dine on the very souls of others! This is because the created Hounds lack them, while men converted into Hounds are given the ability to match their psychoplasmic forebears.
If their foes fail a Psyche (will) ACTION on contact with a Hound, these villains may drain a Good (10) amount of their Intuition and Psyche ranks from their foes. Hounds don't seem to require spectral energy to live, but they definitely crave souls of their own.
Mental Invisibility (psychoplasmic hounds only, t): those Hounds created from scratch by Daedalus Darquill within the Far Side were mainly unliving, animated psychoplasm. As such, they technically had no minds to detect, granting them this power at Amazing (50) rank.
Limitations / Enhancements:
(none)
Equipment:
(none)
Quirks:
Abnormal Attribute: when they approach, women apparently possess an innate awareness of the Hounds' presence. While men cannot sense them so, women feel an unearthly chill grip their bones when Hounds enter their current area, letting them know of the imminent danger.
Talents:
None. The Hounds created by Daedalus Darquill from the very stuff of his mind possess no skills to speak of, just their inherent fighting prowess, as described above. Any humans he transformed into Hounds would retain whatever skills they had mastered before meeting him.
Contacts:
As the lowest rung in the deranged hierarchy of the Winterlands wizards, the Hounds have no contacts to speak of save each other. They are usually wielded as disposable labor by the leaders of their Far Side faction, and as such only the Hounds will assist each other.
Costume:
Covered from head to toe in long, brown fur, the Hounds wear little clothing. They are occasionally seen sporting tattered trousers of various stripes, but will sometimes be clad in ensembles that assist them in some manner of subterfuge when it is required of them.
Characteristics:
The Hounds are the dim but eager servants of Daedalus Darquill and his lieutenants. They perform their duties without question, but are not above fleeing should they find themselves in mortal peril. They can speak, but they do so in a manner fitting their limited intellect.
Real Name: either inapplicable or as given before becoming Hounds
Occupation: minions of the Winterlands wizards
Legal Status: either inapplicable or per their status before becoming Hounds
Marital Status: either inapplicable or per their status before becoming Hounds
Alias(es), if any: Demon Hounds
Group Affiliation: the wizards of the Winterlands
Height: 6'

Eyes: various
Weight: 180 lbs
Other Distinguishing Characteristics: Hounds are covered from head to toe in long, brown fur. They possess claws and fangs, and large, bulbous eyes. Occasionally they appear like classical wolfmen, though other times they just look like furry, floppy-eared humans.
Story:
The Hounds were originally the creation of Daedalus Darquill's addled mind, shaped from the very stuff of the mindscape around him to produce their common forms and limited minds. They occasionally perform clandestine duties, but usually serve as blunt instruments.
For months Darquill considered this enough, and utilized his Hounds to do his dirty work both on earth and in the Far Side. They proved effective against his greatest foe, Tensen, because their lack of souls made them invisible to the so-called Justice Warrior's aura sight.
In time, however, Darquill needed a more effective class of underlings. As such, he began subjecting his human agents, those working within his criminal enterprises on earth, to his vast psionic powers. When he was finished with them, these humans functioned as his new Hounds.
While they had a bit more initiative than the originals, these new Hounds did indeed possess souls, being former human beings. As a result, Tensen could indeed spot them with his aura vision, and his other powers were much more effective against them than they were the originals.
With the death of Daedalus Darquill, it is assumed that the very matter used to make most, if not all of his created Hounds have dissolved into higher dimensions. As is the case with most psychoplasmic entities, however, it's possible that one or two of them avoided this fate.
Formerly human Hounds presumably returned to their previous, mundane state upon Darquill's death, assuming they survived the annihilation of the Far Side as he died. However, as was the case with his created Hounds, it's possible some retain their psionic modifications.
