Origin:
As are his fellow Constructicons, Long Haul is a Transformer, one of the many electromechanical life forms that evolved on the world of Cybertron! Thanks to this background, Long Haul has a plethora of special abilities that define his physical existence - in all of his forms!
Powers:
Cybertronian Physique: his form of life hailing from the planet Cybertron, Long Haul is one of the Transformers! This means that he is a robotic entity that benefits from numerous special abilities as does all of his kind, including the followering:
* Body Armor (s): like all of the Constructicons, Long Haul is built tough. Possessing a dense body comprised of inorganic substances, Long Haul benefits from intensity 8, or +2, an inherent form of body armor that is proof against most assault.
* Growth / Shrinking (a): as do his fellow Constructicons, Long Haul stands at fifteen foot tall in his humanoid configuration, giving him intensity 3 growth as a general means of describing his volume. This grants him a considerable advantage over earth's meatbags.
Long Haul swells in volume when he transforms into his Hitachi DH321 mining dump truck configuration, however. Since this gives him a length of just over twenty-six feet, Long Haul's volume change technically gives Hook a +1 growth bonus in his vehicular mode, for all practical purposes.
* Microscopic / Telescopic Vision (w): a wide-ranging visual acuity is common to the Transformers. They posses both microscopic and telescopic vision at intensity 2, allowing them to see objects farther, and far smaller, than mere fleshlings are able to.
* Radio Transceiver (i): while Transformers do have a sense of hearing, and readily communicate verbally, they often range far afield from their fellows. They thus make use of an intensity 7 radio transcevier, one with an optimistic maximum range of one hundred miles.
* Resistance / Invulnerability to Disease and Poison (s): Long Haul is an entirely inorganic being, having been born to an electromechanical species long ago. He's immune to carbon-based plague and poison, and has intensity 20, or +5, resistance to other forms of disease and toxins.
Cargo Bed (a): as his primary construction function is hauling materials back and forth, Long Haul naturally has a powerful cargo bed in his dump truck mode. He can use this to haul up to ninety tons of material at once, giving it an effective Strength of 17.
Corporeal Gestalt (a): one of the six Constructicons, Long Haul can naturally merge his form with that of his fellows to form Devastator! The Constructicons all possess this power at intensity 5, giving them reasonable cohesion as this terrifying gestalt entity.
Rocket Launcher (i): when he transforms into his Hitachi DH321 mining dump truck mode, Long Haul can deploy this powerful weapon. It can launch heat-seeking projectiles (+2 to hit) that allow Long Haul to reach out and touch his foes at a distance, inflicting intensity 10 damage each.
Shape Change (a): by far his most well-known ability, Hook can transform between several different configurations. He can stand as a humanoid, pose as Devastator's lower torso and pelvis, and reconfigure himself into a Hitachi DH321 mining dump truck that moves with intensity 1 speed.
Hindrances / Augmentations:
(none)
Equipment:
Laser Pistol (a): as he lacks inherent weaponry in his humanoid configuration, Long Haul carries a laser pistol with him at all times. He can fire a coherent photon beam from this weapon to inflict his Agility +5 in Armor Piercing energy damage with every deadly assault.
Skills:
Business / Finance (w): as the Constructicons' logistics expert, it is Long Haul's job to account for the materials his team will need to produce something - and then to transport it as necessary. This most often, but not always, involves him stealing whatever supplies they need.
Contacts:
Long Haul can generally consider the other five Constructicons, as well as the Decepticons overall, reliable contacts. They need him to form Devastator, after all, so they're not likely to just leave Long Haul for dead unless he's getting on their absolute last nerve.
Calling:
Soldier: torn by conflicting motivations, Long Haul desperately wishes to become a full-time Decepticon combatant. However, Long Haul fears approaching Megatron about a change of career, so he soldiers on in his role as a dump truck, which chafes on him constantly.
Likeness:
Regardless of his current configuration, Long Haul appears to be a large electromechanical entity that is primarily bright green in hue. He adds a variable amount of dark purple to the mix, depending on what form he's in at the moment, along with chromed and black bits here and there.
Personality:
Long Haul is utterly dissatisfied with his role in the Decepticon army. Oh sure, he knows that the job he performs for his fellow Constructicons is vital to their work, but he finds it supremely boring. After all, he likes to remind people he didn't sign up to become a dump truck.
Frequently. To just about everyone except Megatron. And that's because Megatron likes Long Haul right where he is, assisting his fellows in the creation of new energy recovery and other important structures, and Long Haul's leader isn't a fan of having his desires questioned.
Just ask Starscream about that!
