Origin:

As are the rest of the Insecticons, much less most of the Decepticons, Venom is a native of the planet of Cybertron. An electromagnetic life form with the power to change his shape between two different configurations at will, Venom is one of the notorious Transformers!

Powers:

Cybertronian Physique: one of the Transformers, Venom is a powerful mechanoid entity hailing from the planet Cybertron. The crucible of evolution on this metal-rich planet has granted Venom numerous physical powers that define his existence, such as:

* Body Armor (s): whether he was formed or forged from assorted inorganic substances, Venom is kind of durable. His bulk and dense, primarily metallic composition grants Venom intensity 8, or +2, protection against assault, a defense which is proof against most attacks.

* Growth / Shrinking (a): in his humanoid configuration, Venom is twelve foot tall, which gives him intensity 2 growth. When he transforms, Venom can remain at the same approximate volume if he wishes. This is handy when wielding his various powers in combat.

However, Venom can also shrink to the size of a large cicada. When at such a small volume, Venom is but two and a half inches long, which gives him an effective shrinking intensity of 5. Of course, any stealth he manages at this size only lasts until he stings his quarry.

* Microscopic / Telescopic Vision (w): Venom's optics benefit from both of these powers, each of which functions with intensity 2 prowess. The former of these is especially useful when Venom is at his minimum volume, as its ultimate magnification is bolstered considerably.

* Radio Transceiver (i): Transformers are often active in areas that lack a conventional atmosphere, such as the depths of space. As such, they all utilize an inherent radiowave transceiver that functions with intensity 7 ability, having a maximum radio range of 100 miles.

* Resistance / Invulnerability to Disease and Poison (s): despite his alternate mode, Venom has no organic components to speak of. He benefits from complete immunity to carbon-based disease and toxins, reduced to intensity 20, or +5, against other forms of plague and poison.

Additional Limbs (a): in his cicada configuration, Venom possesses six legs. Venom can use them to run fast, raising the speed and duration when doing so as if his Strength was +2 higher. He cannot use them to delicately manipulate objects, however.

Body Doubles (cartoon variant) (a): when three Insecticons pool their abilities, they can each create perfect copies of themselves. Given enough matter and energy of the appropriate type, Insecticons can use this intensity 20 power to make up to twenty more of themselves.

Shape Change (a): his most infamous ability, Venom has the power to transform at will between his humanoid and his cicada configurations. When he assumes the form of a cicada, Venom unlocks several special abilities he can wield against others.

Stinger (a): while ordinary cicadas are not venomous, Venom sure is! Perhaps as a vestige of a previous alternate mode he possessed on Cybertron, or maybe for some other reason, Venom's head is equipped with a stinger that has an effective MS of 16.

Venom can use his stinger to inflict his Strength +4 in piercing damage, whether wielding it with a head butt or a body check. On contact, even if it doesn't initially penetrate his target, Venom's stinger can discharge numerous offensive liquids, such as:

* Catalysis (i): when dealing with more chemically creative foes, Venom can reach deep into his bag of tricks to produce various catalytic agents. When used first, these intensity 14 compounds can bolster his others by +2, or act in this power's usual fashion.

* Corrosion (s): useful against other mechanoids, Venom can emit a caustic fluid from his stinger on contact. This substance causes intensity 13 SD metabolic damage to metallic life forms, reduced by -4 when wielding it against organic or other non-metallic foes.

* Poison (s): when facing organic enemies, Venom can instead discharge a virulent poison that acts to paralyze them. If he can pass an easy difficulty Strength (poison) contingent action with this intensity 13 substance, his foe will be paralyzed for an aura duration.

Wings (a): Venom has been blessed with powerful wings that can lift even his hefty, metallic bulk against gravity itself. Functioning at intensity 1, these additional limbs allow him to fly at fifteen miles per hour, regardless of his current configuration or volume.

Hindrances / Augmentations:

Paranoia 3: Venom is overwhelmingly paranoid, readily acting on the impulses this character flaw causes... invariably managing to actually turn ostensible allies against him. Momentarily shrugging off his paranoia requires he pass a Willpower action of challenging difficulty.

Equipment:

Battle Axe (s): when the use of his stinger is impractical (or would be overkill), Venom occasionally makes use of this unpowered, bladed weapon. He can inflict his Strength +4 in slashing damage whether wielding it in melee or flinging it at others.

Electro-blaster Gun (a): as he possesses no inherent ranged assaults, Venom carries this weapon with him at all times. He can use it to discharge powerful bolts of lighting which, on contact, can inflict intensity 12 Stunning energy damage each.

Skills:

Psychology (i): beyond the mere manipulation practiced by other Insecticons, Venom knows the conscious mind in and out, readily using this knowledge against others. He may resolve psychology-related card play at a reduced difficulty, save for where his own issues are concerned.

Contacts:

As leader of the Insecticons, Venom can ostensibly rely upon his underlings, not to mention other Decepticons, for aid in a pinch. However, Venom is so disliked amongst his fellows for desperately clinging to power that he can't really consider them reliable contacts.

Calling:

Gloryhound: more than anything else, Venom cherishes his position as leader of the Insecticons. His entire personality is wrapped around this perceived honor, and Venom goes out of his way to take all the credit for his underlings' successes - and none of the blame for their failures.

Likeness:

Venom is primarily green, with orange and white trim here and there. As an insect, his head and abdomen are orange, while his legs and thorax are green. As a humanoid, his head and lower limbs are orange, his upper limbs are gray, and his torso is green. His wings are always orange.

Personality:

Venom has worked hard to earn his place as the leader of the Insecticons, and his self-image is so wrapped up in this position that he jealously holds onto it. Paranoid to a fault, he sees enemies and plots everywhere, typically where there are none, ultimately making his fears a reality.

This is because Venom not only suspects others of usurping his role, he actively takes steps to prevent this from occurring. This regularly serves to push would-be allies away, and only justifies hatred in him from those he punishes for their perceived plots against him.
