Issue 8:
The Hunt

In a panic, David continued his search for Stephanie, but ultimately had no luck finding her. He combed the parking lot and area around the facility to no avail, and upon returning to the Winnebago found Stephanie's kids in a panic. Since his yelling had apparently woken them up in a bad state, he made plans to check out the hospital proper while Lenore watched the children. Of course, she did this the easy way... and knocked 'em out.

Inside the Sheboygan hospital, David got the runaround from the desk clerk, and thus made his way in, with a handful of security guards in tow. The first two to confront him were simply seized by David, while about six others tackled him - to no avail - as he made his way towards the broken Chuck's room. After making it there, he decided the guards must not have her - it had to be the Clinic's goons that grabbed Stephanie!

Returning to the Winnebago, David gave Lenore the bad news - after a momentary, accidental zap from her vampiric power - and they decided what to do next. Realizing that they couldn't care for Stephanie's children, particularly with her out of the picture, the two paranormals resolved to take them back to their grandmother's house... even if the evil woman was poisoning them against their mother.

As they returned to the house they'd so recently caused a ruckus in, Lenore and David found that Helen wasn't even there. Nonetheless placing the children in their beds, David then called a random number from Helen's number list, and told the person who picked up that she needed to come check on the kids. This didn't go unnoticed however, for Helen's neighbors saw him lurking around in the lady's kitchen!

Elsewhere in Wisconsin, Randy and Jeffrey were driving away from the hospital when they stopped to get gas. Both of them were worried about Charlotte's fate, particularly since it meant the Clinic was clearly out to get them again. The goons who were on their tail stopped at the same gas station in fact, and flattened the tire in David's pickup truck to make sure they couldn't get away.

Attempting to lure him out, the goon who did it even told Randy his tire was flat while he paid for the gas, though Randy immediately got a 'bad vibe' from the man. Jeffrey then checked him and his buddies out on Randy's request, and saw that he and his friends all had guns drawn in their car. As such, Jeffrey snatched Randy away from the disabled truck before the goons could make their move... much to their dismay.

In Sheboygan, David and Lenore saw that the house was quickly being surrounded by police, at which point Lenore concocted a plan to deal with them. Luring them in with her 'helpless old lady' act, she quickly tranquilized half of the cops, though there were about six more outside yet. Pretending to give themselves up, Lenore then zapped the others, though one got a lucky shot in at her first (but missed).

With seemingly every last policeman in Sheboygan knocked out at their feet, David and Lenore ran for the Winnebago and made their escape. While they thought they were free from immediate harm, they had no idea there were armed thugs in the back of the vehicle...!

Elsewhere, Randy and Jeffrey stopped their flight, as the latter had run out of steam - lack of nutrition. He dropped Randy so the man could run, and tried to take out the Clinic's goons himself... and almost managed it. His speed petered out with but one of them remaining however, and the goon tranquilized him before he could get his second (or third) wind. Randy fared little better against his single foe, also falling to the Clinic's thugs.

In Sheboygan, David and Lenore were also ambushed as soon as the Winnebago came to a halt. They were both gunned down with tranquilizer darts in the back, though David's metabolism allowed him to shrug off at least one dose of such. Ducking for cover, he debated his options and, though he felt like an utter heelf or doing so, left Lenore with the Clinic's goons for now.

At least that way he could rescue them once he'd made a proper plan...

Issue 9:
Dream

Awoken by his alarm clock at 8:25, Randy was disoriented and felt groggy. It took him a moment to adjust, but he quickly realized that he was in his room at the Clinic for Paranormal Research - right where he belongs. Pulling himself together, he ambled into the shower to avoid missing breakfast, but while there he found himself having flashbacks to a 'dream' he had last night.

In this dream, he was on the run with David and the rest of his therapy group, fleeing from... hunters it seemed. He remembered the group splitting up for some reason, though he couldn't fathom why, and then recalled getting gunned down himself. Waking up right then, he tried to figure out why the dream was so vivid, but couldn't quite put his finger on it... much less why he was so physically out of sorts.

Getting out of the shower at 9:25, Randy was too late for breakfast, though Charlotte gave him what was left of hers - despite Jeffrey's objections. The group then began to razz Randy about how wrecked he seemed, with Scuzz especially accusing him of boozing it up. He tried to talk to them about the strange dream he'd had, but was interrupted by Arthur 'Freefall' Benway, with his gravity-bending powers.

He took the time to taunt Randy about how his therapy group, group b, was going to trounce group c in the coming volleyball game that night. They had apparently been having a tournament in the Clinic, and this was the last of three games between the therapy groups - each group had won one game. Meanwhile, the others were wondering about David, for the big man was conspicuously absent from the group this morning.

In the group's therapy session, Randy gets to talking about himself and his antibody, and how he hadn't seen hide nor hair of it for quite some time. He got to wondering whether he would even be considered a paranormal anymore if it had left and never returned. The others find themselves comparing themselves to Randy as well, mostly wishing they had such an 'easy' power to conceal like he did.

Even if he had no real control over it.

After the group session, Randy tried to visit David in the Clinic's intensive care unit - he'd learned that David had been sent there after an acute muscle issue - but Ms. Speck wouldn't let him in to see him. Clinic rules, and all that. Annoyed, Randy tried to force his antibody out to check in the next room, but the intense strain almost caused him to pass out right there on the Clinic's floor.

Ambling into the lunch room, Randy had again missed a meal and was feeling the strain of not eating all day. Of course he'd managed to cut his lip in his fall a few minutes ago, so Stephanie healed him up while Charlotte tried to sweet talk some lunch out of the obstinate lunch man... with little luck save for a bowl of pudding. But that was something at least, and Randy ate while visions of his dream haunted him.

Later, Randy got himself checked out by Mr. Charne, who wanted to attempt a study of his power once more. He put Randy through the wringer, trying any number of techniques to stimulate the activation of his power, and subsequent release of an antibody, but this ultimately failed. In fact, the slide show of disturbing and/or erotic imagery only served to make Randy dwell on the images of his dream even more!

Trying to take his mind off of it, Randy went to go work out afterwards, only to be harassed by Pamela 'Interface' Leighton. She tried using her empathic powers on him, possibly in an effort to 'wreck' him before the volleyball game to come, but was thwarted by Charlotte and her fiction controlling powers. This caused Pamela to fall, and hard, which prevented her from playing that night.

This incensed therapy group b, and while Randy was taking another shower after his workout, he was confronted in the showers by one of them. This fellow was Rodney 'Tangler' Weigand, and he tied Randy up in the shower, leaving him helpless and naked on the wet floor, the shower spray still hitting him. By the time Randy had escaped, with a variety of small garotte-like wounds on his legs, dinner was over.

Luckily his friends had saved him a full meal... this time.

After dinner, Randy and his therapy group got on with the game against group b, though the odds were skewed somewhat. This was because referee Hackbarth was letting people use their powers despite saying that was a foul. Randy refused to let his team cheat even though the others were blatantly doing so, and thus his therapy group quickly lost their game against the others - much to his own group's chagrin.

That night, Randy decided to break into the Clinic's intensive care unit to see David, doing so with Charlotte's help. Upon entering the place, they found David on a slab, apparently dead! This freaked Randy out, so much so that he woke up immediately. This whole thing, you see, was a charade produced by Mr. Charne, in an effort to rehabilitate his memories and erase thoughts of escaping the Clinic once and for all.

Hackbarth immediately put him back under, but as it turned out Randy was conscious for a few seconds, and Hackbarth was worried that the man might retain some memory of this incident...

Issue 10:
Orphan

While the Clinic was busy reconditioning the minds of its recently captured Displaced Paranormals, David was still on the run in suburban Sheboygan. Making a break for a train as it passed him by, David fought off the cold and ice, tearing his way into a freight car that wasn't full - luckily it was only partly filled with consumer electronics. Once safe for the moment, he tried to warm up... and began to sulk.

The source of David's dismay, his fellows in the Clinic's therapy group c, were currently under intense observation by Voigt's trio of enforcers. While Mr. Charne and Ms. Speck were being amped up by Mr. Hackbarth to keep them working, the cracks were beginning to show, first when Ms. Speck blew up at Voigt himself upon his asking her to assist his headhunters in finally capturing David.

While Hackbarth dropped the former escapees into non-REM sleep so the others could take a break, he pondered the problem of Randy's antibody - how he hadn't seen it for three days now... despite it usually roaming free while the man was unconscious. Just then, Randy's antibody fell from the sky outside a forlorn orphanage. This was witnessed by young Evan Huebner, a comic book fan who recognized something Fantastic when he saw it.

He crept out of the orphanage despite it being night, and checked on the strange, shimmering black humanoid. It then put its hands inside Evan, and revealed everything it had experienced to the lonely youth. It then sought refuge within his body, something Evan was okay with - though it left him with a mission: to find Randy before it was too late! Just then, the head of the orphanage, Ms. Twombly, caught him.

Dragging Evan inside out of the cold and snow, she proceeded to spank him for violating the rules, at which point Randy's antibody reached out of his behind and abruptly stopped her! Freaked out, she ran out of the room, leaving Evan to his own devices. He then went back to his room, despite the taunts of his fellow orphans, and slept the sleep of the just - feeling happy for at least once in his life.

Meanwhile, in the remote reaches of Wisconsin, David opened the door of his freight car to get a hint of where he was at, only to find those headhunters were on the train! When one opened the door to his car, David grabbed him and smashed him into a pile of RCA electronics - breaking him in the process. Grabbing his gun, David decided to go hunting for the others, quickly taking a shot in the arm for his troubles.

He managed to tag his assailant, as well as another hunter, before yet more hit him two more times in the back. Hopping off the train, David staggered into the unknown woods around him, attempting to make his escape. While the two remaining hunters followed, they had little idea that they were wandering into controlled territory... as was David himself.

Back at the Clinic, Ms. Speck went to turn in her resignation, but Voigt had apparently been tipped off regarding her intentions by her fellows. He gave her a severance check and then disregarded her, which infuriated her. She reached out with her powers, peering into Voigt's mind, only to fall into a strange void, full of naught but cold and pain. She tried to pull out before it was too late, but simply didn't have the strength.

At the orphanage, Evan was attempting to head to school when several bullies tried to beat him up. Evan was powerless against them, at least until Randy's antibody smacked them around and chased them off. The antibody then told Evan again that it had to find Randy, as it was dying, so Evan borrowed some cash (and the antibody stole someone's wallet), and the two were off... to the Clinic for Paranormal Research!

At this point, David had succumbed to the cold and the tranquilizers in his system, but was saved by a mysterious Woodsman, who hauled him over his shoulders (despite his immense bulk) and carried him to his cabin. He then proceeded to dig the darts out of the unconscious giant of a man, and even treated the man's frostbite! Of course, when David came to, the Woodsman asked him what they were for in the first place...

Soon enough, the remaining hunters on his tail approached the Woodsman's cabin, so he and his wolf, Demon, went to go investigate. The Woodsman easily captured one of the hunters, sneaking up on him without his having a clue, and drug him off to his cabin as well. The idea was to sit David and his pursuer in the same room and get the truth out of them... one way or the other!

Back at the Clinic again, Ms. Speck came to, her memories of quitting having been removed from her mind by Mr. Charne, to keep her working there. While they got back to work on the former escapees, Evan arrived with Randy's antibody, and asked to see him right away. He was apparently moments too late however, for the antibody itself fell out of Evan's body and discorporated right after his arrival...!
